The Good Doctor is an American medical drama television series developed for ABC by David Shore, based on the South Korean series of the same name. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios, with Shore serving as showrunner.[1] The series stars Freddie Highmore as Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgical resident with savant syndrome, alongside Nicholas Gonzalez, Antonia Thomas, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff, and Tamlyn Tomita.[2][3] Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Jasika Nicole, Bria Samoné Henderson, Noah Galvin, and Osvaldo Benavides joined the principal cast in later seasons.[4][5][6] The series premiered on September 25, 2017.

In March 2022, the series was renewed for a sixth season, which premiered on October 3, 2022.[7][8]As of March 20, 2023,[update] 111 episodes of The Good Doctor have aired, currently in its sixth season.
Shaun, Claire, and Park are assigned to supervise six resident applicants with only four positions available while Morgan struggles with the transition to internal medicine. Andrews, Shaun and Park treat a seventeen year old getting breast implants to fix a deformity; while the surgery is initially successful, she experiences complications that puts the patient into a coma. It is determined that the patient got a blood clot in her brain, but Andrews manages to remove it using a stent retriever and the patient recovers. Morgan discovers that her patient has a tumor on his heart and enlists Claire and Lim's help to fix it while having trouble stepping back from the case to the point that Lim has to throw Morgan out of the operating room; despite some difficulties, the surgery is a success and Morgan gives Claire credit as the surgeon responsible. While having lunch with Lea, Shaun inadvertently insults her, but after getting advice from Glassman, makes up with her by being totally honest about everything that he loves about Lea. The team selects doctors Jordan Allen, Asher Wolke, Olivia Jackson and Enrique Guerin as the new residents; Lim reveals that Shaun, Claire and Park will be helping to train the new residents and warns them not to take the responsibility lightly.
In 2016, Highmore concluded filming on the fifth and final season of the Emmy-nominated Bates Motel as the iconic Norman Bates, for which he was awarded a People's Choice Award for Best Actor. Having written an episode in Season Four, Highmore wrote a further two episodes in Season Five where he also made his directorial debut.
June 2017 saw the release of the HBO mockumentary Tour de Pharmacy, directed by Jake Szymanski, in which Highmore appears alongside Andy Samberg. You can now see Highmore starring as Dr. Shaun Murphy on last fall's No. 1 new drama series, ABC's The Good Doctor, currently on its second season.

More recently, he played Don Cheadle's conniving boss in Showtime's House of Lies. In WGN America's period drama, Manhattan, he played the mysterious Mr. Fisher tasked with finding spies who are working in the Manhattan project. In Direct TV's crime drama Rogue, he played a Machiavellian power broker and in Showtime's The Affair he played a high-profile city attorney.
Christina Chang has had many notable roles on hit series throughout her career. She currently stars in last fall's No. 1 new drama series, The Good Doctor, created by David Shore. Chang was a recurring character in the first season and was promoted to a series regular for Season 2. She stars as Dr. Audrey Lim, who has emerged as a formidable counterpart to Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez), with the duo often splitting up the growing group of residents between them.
Will Yun Lee can be seen as Dr. Alex Park in last fall's No. 1 new drama series, ABC's The Good Doctor. Based on the South Korean series of the same name, the show premiered in September 2017 and received a great amount of viewership and favorable reviews, and as a result, was renewed for a second season. Returning this fall, Lee will reprise his role as a series regular.

While the season 5 finale featured Shaun and Lea's wedding, it also ended on a major cliffhanger as Dalisay Villanueva and Dr. Audrey Lim were attacked by Villanueva's abusive ex, with both stabbed and lying on the floor as the season ended. What will happen with these two long-time series regulars is one of the big early questions for season 6.

Dr. Jared Kalu is back for the sixth season of The Good Doctor. An original cast member of the medical drama, Chuku Modu, is set to make a comeback, reprising his role as Jared Kalu for the current season of the popular drama. Modu left the show five years ago after appearing in the first episode of the second season.
Since leaving the show, Modu appeared in the last two seasons of The 100 and in Captain Marvel. The Good Doctor is produced by ABC Signature and Sony Picture Television Series. Elsewhere, Allen is asked by Marcus to give a series of online talks to young high-school girls of colour about medicine. Allen refuses his offer and asks him to choose another doctor but Marcus points out she is perfect for the job. He reminds her that only 2% of surgeons in the US are black. He asks her to stop being afraid of the spotlight and tries to convince her but she turns him down.

Things seemed fine until the doctors found out that an artery had attached itself to the scar tissue. Of course, that artery ruptured and Lea needed a second surgery. This was the one where her life was put on the line.
Dr. Lim's situation will also be a big part of the new season, and though Friedman remained tight-lipped on how the character may recover from the incident, she did say that new episodes will see her deal with a number of new obstacles.
The co-showrunner added that she didn't want to reveal too much about Dr. Lim's physical health, but she said: "She is going to be continuing as a surgeon. The big question is whether or not she's the same doctor as she was before. You're going to see this character struggle to figure out who she is in a different physical reality."

The Good Doctor season 6 is welcoming back Chuku Modu's Dr. Jared Kalu for the first time since season 2. Modu was one of the show's initial stars when it first premiered in 2017, playing one of the surgical residents under attending surgeon Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) along with Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) and Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore). However, Kalu was fired for assaulting an employee who sexually harassed Dr. Brown. Although he was rehired after suing the hospital, Kalu ultimately opted to accept a new job and exited The Good Doctor during season 2.
As reported by TVLine, Modu is reprising his role as Dr. Kalu in The Good Doctor season 6. He is set to return in The Good Doctor's 15th episode, "Old Friends," and will ultimately appear for a total of 7 episodes. Considering season 6 will be 22 episodes long, this means Modu's Kalu is set to stay for the remainder of the season. 041b061a72
